Which war are we talking about?
The one you turned up late for, or the one you turned up late for?

Comin again to save the motherfuckin day... after we'd done most of the fighting .
I don't actually believe this btw, America's intervention in WW2 was integral to our victory, and likely shortened the war by a decade or so. For that both me and my ancestors are grateful...but it doesn't change the fact that you were late ;)

That's the one. We borrowed lots of your money too, while we're at it. :)

Hah :) I haven't encountered that argument before

I've argued with enough people in gawker media who deny that America had any useful part in turning WWII around. I was about to roll up my sleeves and dish out some freedom until I read your second part haha

Its stuff like this that gets many peoples backs up with some Americans. Some have only a one sided view and given any evidence to the contrary is greeted by 'murica, fuck yeah' by which point there is no reason to keep on as its like looking at a computer monitor that won't refresh.
The irony is many love their nations roots yet see themselves as better than them. Its one or the other people, equal or superior.
I'm not going to enter into an argument or comment battle, suffice to say that image did make me smile. I just hope it was done in good humour and not a troll exercise to get peoples back up.

I believe many post that stuff tongue in cheek, which I don't mind at all. Some others do seem to do so in all seriousness, which is quite sad. I personally think it's a bit too much, sometimes. Mindless flagwaving, from any country including my own, makes me cringe. Although it's been frowned upon here for 70 years now it does seem to be making a comeback. Sadly.

Finally an internet Brit that admits it. There are many reasons for the late entry of the US, but one that stands out to me was the disgust of our government to the treaty of Versailles. It resulted in our government wanting little to do with Europe in the interwar period outside of trade. Also our largest ethnic group are the Germans so I feel that contributes somewhat.

I'm an American citizen that was born abroad in Germany. So....does that mean I kicked my own ass?
